Karl Rove Handicaps The 2012 GOP Field, From Newt Gingrich To Donald Trump
With Newt Gingrich jumping into the 2012 Republican presidential campaign today, Karl Rove tells Matt Lauer ?(Gingrich) could earn his way into the top tier?there is essentially no front-runner.?
The Republican field remains wide open, Rove says, with time for a well-known candidate like Gingrich to make moves to break from the pack before others get into the race in the weeks before July, when Rove believes it will be too late to run for those who haven?t begun campaigning to mount an effective bid for the GOP nomination. What about Donald Trump, who found his way to the top of some early polls, followed by a drop in more recent polling. ?His swearing and epithet-laden speech in Las Vegas turned off a lot of voters.?
